PharmaTrad is a team of freelance translators led by two highly-experienced professional translators, Assunta Civita and Federica Borgini. It offers a complete range of translation services to pharmaceutical companies, general practitioners, medical specialists and other institutional and professional parties in the medical/health and biotechnological sectors whose texts need to be written in several languages.

Our strength lies in our having recognised that no individual freelance translator is able to satisfy all the translation needs of the type of client referred to above (nor should be able to, in our opinion, given that, in our sector, quality service depends on specialisation). For example, a pharmaceutical company will need to have not only the package leaflets for its drugs translated but also its presentation brochure, a press release, its financial statements, and various documents to be submitted to regulatory authorities. Hence, widely varying kinds of texts, requiring equally varied abilities and therefore translators specialised in the related fields.

This is the reason for a team: a pool of skills and abilities made available to the client, in the medical and pharmacological field as well as in the various fields with which it intersects.

It is our flexibility that differentiates us from an agency. Being flexible, we are able to offer our clients competitive prices while yet guaranteeing an absolutely unquestionable level of quality. We always choose the most appropriate translator for each assignment: the most competent in the particular area of interest, translating only towards his or her native language. All of the team members use CAT (Computer-Aided Translation) tools. We create ad hoc glossaries (subsequently approved by the client) and rigorously review each text. The result: we consistently deliver accurate translations that are terminologically sound.

In order best to satisfy our clients' requirements, we have set up two language sections, English and German, each of which is headed by a KEY FIGURE, the PharmaTrad co-ordinator for a particular language combination and who functions as a central point of reference throughout the entire course of each project, regardless of the number of people involved. This role is fulfilled by Federica Borgini for English-Italian translations and by Assunta Civita for German-Italian translations, two professionals with extensive experience in medical and pharmaceutical translations.

And those who came to him with flesh-devouring sores, with limbs gored by gray bronze or crushed beneath flung stones, all those with bodies broken, sun-struck or frost-bitten, he freed of their misery, each from his ailment, and led them forth -- some to the lull of soft spells, others by potions, still  others with bandages steeped in medications culled from all quarters, and some he set right through surgery.
